Artists Spaces
This project is designed to cover one aspect of contemporary working artists life in depth, the influence of the studio. It has created an archive of Manx artists to document their artistic origins, education, methods of working and their influences. This project clearly records their working practices which would have been influenced by their studio environment. The importance of the artist studio is clearly transmitted in these recordings and also reflects the influence of the Isle of Man on Manx artists.
Anita Hogarth BA Hons with Art History, has over twelve years expereince of working with local artists and managing art galleries on the Isle of Man. Anita is currently mananging Studio 42 in Port St Mary.
This project was suported by the Isle of Man Arts Council and all the recordings are being held in the archives of Manx National Heritage. With special thanks to Juan Moore.
I am hugely influenced by the Isle of Man, a lot of the forms I use, I picked up there.

When you are working on sculpture, you do use a lot of dangerous materials and you need a place
where it’s safe to work and if you have a proper studio, it’s got to be a safe studio
